How do ex-cons find jobs?

My brother was released from prison in Febuary of this year, he has went on several hundred job interviews, and has actually started 4 jobs, and revealed that he was indeed an ex con , after only a few days on each job, corporate comes back and tells the manager to fire him, he has been fired from Mcdonalds and several other places, how in the world is he soppose to make a living for himself, and he is really trying, Not to mention he was just as the wrong place with the wrong people at the wrong time

I guess I need to add more, I indicated he has tried fast foods, even though he reveals this information up front, they wait until they receive the back ground check and then dismiss him. So if you cant work at McDonalds or Burger King, where do you work

I sympathize with your situation. One of the difficulties in finding work is the ex-offender's inability to be bonded. Most insurance companies that insure companies whose employees are around or handle money will not bond that employee. Check with your local employment office and ask about the Federal Bonding program. This was established to help ex-offenders obtain employment where they needed to be bonded. This is offered to the employer at not cost for the first year of the offender's employment.

I will say hurrah for Detroit. My only gripe is that they limited to only "non-violent" offenders, which puts drug users squarely in the middle of the class. It also means they are only looking at people who have served relatively short sentences, so shouldn't have lost all the job skills they had before they went in, assuming they had any to begin with. An aside for Aunt Acid, I would be willing to give odds that there are as many out of work ex-convicts in your city as any other, and a lot of them would jump at a chance such as Detroit offered to find work.

Find a job that needs the expertise of an ex-con just like investigation agencies using his experience.

They apply for things that need no experience and will hire what they can get because they can't keep employees, such as Mc Donalds and other fast food places, or factory work.
