If it's all to do with the brain then the brain is a very sneaky organ for whenever I've experienced heartache (you know what I mean!), the brain has made a pretty good job of relaying those awful feelings to my chest and stomach.

Poor old chest and stomach then get the blame. You've never heard of anyone being broken brained by the loss of a loved one, have you? I suppose I've never been broken stomached either...

The brain but it blames the heart!

Neither your brain nor your heart - in the physical sense.
Love is felt in the emotional and energetic heart, which has a correspondence to the physical, but a biologist can't find it.
The energetic heart is not on the left side of the chest it is directly in the center of the chest.
Love is multidimensionsal, the word love covers so many meanings for so many people - yet we all know what love is, and yet we don't.
Love is not logical.
Your question is rational - so you will not get a satisfying answer here, simply because if you ask such a question it simply means you have not felt love. If you had you would know the answer. Forget all our answers go out and find love and then you will know from your own experience.

Brain, of course. All the heart is is a muscle that pumps blood to the other parts of your body. That is it. The brain is the source of all senses, emotions, and thoughts. Therefore, love comes from the brain. The heart is just the symbol of love, not the cause.

Your brain plays the major role, and specific parts of your brain do different things. The chemical oxytocin plays a big role in feelings of intimacy and caring, and your limbic system is also very important. If you want a very in-depth, scientific answer, I highly recommend the book "A General Theory of Love". It's written by 3 researchers who do a very good job of explaining it in a way that's easy for most people to understand, even without a science background.

The purpose of heart is to create/pump blood. Brain on the other hand tells us what emotions to feel. We feel love because of our brain -- whether we'll use our emotions or logic depends on which part of the brain we are going to use.

I do not think my brain controls everything. My heart, my emotions, my instincts, my impulses together with my brain controls all of mine. Not to mentions my nerves and my physicallity too controls alot in the sense my physicallity follows my directions of my heart and my mind. I react the way I feel like and the way I think like.

Love do happens by your heart but you do not have to succumb to your heart everytime. For example, you might like or have a crush on Tom Cruise! But here comes when your mind dominates your feelings. Since you know it is next to impossible to practilcalise such feelings your mind controls over your feelings and stops you from getting carried away. This is what you might call a sense of maturity in an individual!

Heart is definitely a very important,or the most important element of your body. Not only is its physical presence important for your bodily function but without heart you cannot be human. Without heart one is inhuman! Mind does direct you, helps you to judge complicated situation and take your decesion but heart makes you feel. Its your concsience. It is where God lives within you and so when you make a mistake your heart pricks on you. Without heart and just with the brain you can be no more than a machine! For a machine functions like a lifeless toy but has no feelings of its own.

If I am in a catch 22 situation and I do not know wether to listen to my heart or my mind I will definitely try come to a compromise, make a decesion which will cause minimum damage both emotionally, mentally to people who mean most to me and if possible will also give me an amount of personal satisfaction. So that, if my decesion does not bring to me the ultimate happiness that I desire for, alteast,I will be content that I have not made the wrong choice standing up for the people I care. However this should not mean I always end up sacrificing for others as I would be feeling cheated and neglected in the long run. So I have to weigh the pros and the cons of every decesion I make, so that, I am occasionally treating myself with a little surprise also.Self service you know!

Hope, I have managed to answer your questions. Also remember, when you make a hard decesion then there will be many standing in your way pointing fingers at you, that you have made the wrong decesion. You should be smart, clever to defend yourself and most of all you conscience should be clear, for in those hard times it is God who is testing your strength! Human beings have nothing to do with it! Your maturity lies in being clear to yourself and your dear ones and the rest of the world takes a secondary place. You do not need to clarify your stand to one and all unless necessary.

The brain definately. It causes a chemical release of hormones and endorphines. All of these are controlled by the brain so therefore we must feel love by the brain.

Heart is a pump and nothing else. All operations of the body even thinking, memory, stimulus etc are all controlled by the brain only.
