Do you mean before they entered in Dec 1941 or after? Before we made promises and they changed after 41.

before 41 we were only lending supplies to Allied forces esp England.

We promised our Nation we would stay out of the war but the attack stirred up the nation as 9-11 did and we went full gear forward and our promises became even more important to other nations. If not for the USA there may not have been enough Units to stop the NAZIS. People like Patton scared the hell out of them. They respected Montgomery, they feared Patton.

So after 41 another promise was to set up a second front for Russia who was on the brink of falling then. We also promised to keep supplying the soviets and brits resources.

Hope that helps

The United Nations was promised. In some ways it was intended to settle disputers from the war but many saw it becoming a pseudo world government. It has been controversial ever since.
Promises were made to the Polish concerning their post-war boundaries. For the most part, The U.S. fought for the boundary integrity of Poland. Unfortunately, the U.S.S.R. dominated the country for 45 years.

Some lesser known promises...that were broken...was that Indian lands the Government asked to use for military bases in the US western states would be returned once the war was over...this never happened.

Specific case was the Bomber base outside Pocatello, Idaho taken from the ShoBan tribe and never returned to this day...it is now the Pocatello Regional Airport. This happened countless times to hundreds of tribes.

1. We will cooperate with the UK and USSR to defeat Germany. This was achieved, but the mutual distrust between the USSR and the others was quite overt even before the war had been won.
2. We will accept nothing less than unconditional surrender from Japan. This was also achieved. Some believe a negotiated settlement could have been reached somewhat sooner, but a Japanese Empire not brought to its knees and disarmed would have continued to pose a threat to regional and global security.

Wolf's answer is terrific. We made a pact with the Devil to destroy Satan himself (Hitler) when we agreed to cooperate with the Soviets.
Individuals made many promises that were subsequently broken - I'm thinking of Patton.
We could spend days discussing the Nazi's promises to the Jews of Europe.
