you know, I asked something similar recently and got hardly any A (one telling me I spelled license wrong - like I care!)
What galls me is the lisense fee is for the BBC - what if I want to opt out of their awful programming schedule and only want to view the rest of my free view channels? Why should I pay for their damn license?
Dance X?
I ask you . . . indeed!
But yeah sadly you do still need a license

YES !! I am afraid so. You actually pay for receiving the signals - by whatever means.

Here is an interesting point. I live in a Block of Flats in London (12 Floors). We have a Residents Association. We meet every 3 months. The Q always comes up re TV Licence. In fact only a few residents have one. Living in a large block - no tv detector can pinpoint any particular flat. It is too labour intensive for them to go knocking on each door.
In this area there are some 20 Blocks - very few have a licence. If you are in a flat - do not bother.
Have I got a licence ?????? I am not saying.
Hope this helps you.

From the back of the TV Licence -
"What do you need a TV Licence for
You need a TV licence to install or use any equipment to receive or record television programme services - for example a television set, a set top box, PC with a broadcast card or any other TV receiving equipment"

Yes is the short answer. As long as you are owning and operating equipment capable of receiving a viewable televised transmission, you will need a TV Licence.

Yes, they are b@stards. Why should we pay for the BBC? Its agasnt our human rights, its a tax that isn't justifiable.

30 minutes ago I canceled my TV license because I have emigrated and they will not refund me the money because its out of the 3 month block or something.

When I was a student I was constantly hassled by them and I didnt have a TV!

The BBC isnt worth it.
