After all those years of trying to produce young talent, all they had that was actual starter material was Green and Jefferson, and they traded them and got an All star in KG, and Allen from Free agency. That kind of rhymes. Anyway, I said for the first time in my life, ( I haven't seen a Celtic Championship,,,, I know it sucks right!) I AM EXCITED ABOUT THE CELTICS! I am so happy that they actually managed to make the team so much better without adding Oden or Durant. I thought this year was going to be terrible when I watched the lottery show, but now I can rest assured that the Boston Celtics WILL finish above .500!

The Celtics are now a top 3 contender in the East. If they have a formidable point guard the center position doesn't matter. With Allen & Pierce on the outside they won't be able to double KG. Who by the way has averaged 20 ppg, 10 rebounds & 4 assists for 9 consectutive seasons. Only two others have come close Larry Bird & Wilt Chamberlain did this feat for 6 consecutive seasons. KG is great & if he had a supporting cast he would have some championships under his belt. He is the best forward in the game today. Put KG in San Antonio & put Duncan in Minnesota & KG would have 4 or more championships. KG is the most team orientated player in the league & he's the most unselfish guy in the league. He will make this work & they will make some noise in the playoffs!!!!

I don't like the trade. First of all because the Celts are a young team, ands if all of there young players stay together and get better together they will be used to playing with one another.
Secondly. Getting rid of Ryan Gomes, Al Jefferson, and Gerald Green, is giving away sure talent. And looking back on the Celtics past luck, KG will probably get hurt.
Third. KG, Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce (the most unstoppable trio in the east conference, according to ESPN) what Pierce is like almost 40, KG has like 2 or 3 strong years left, and i don't really know about Ray Allen. I like the idea of having a young team, and even though it would take 4-5 years to finally get really good, I think it would be the best decision.
Thanks for putting up this question, I have been thinking this and finally want someones opinion...

KG is definitely a top 10 player in the league right now!!
He brings intensity and passion to the team
Dude can hit jumpers from everywhere, rebound, defend, post up...he can do it all!
He's one of the best big men in the league in passing
YEs this is a very good trade for Boston
They already had Ray Allen and Paul Pierce who are in their 30s hungry for a championship...both of those guys are good shooters and explosive scorers
on top of that they added an inside presence in Kevin Garnet...they've put some of the best players in the league in 3 slots and all 3 of those guys will definitely will be all stars
if those 3 start playing defense and kick up their defensive efforts up a notch...watch out
Celtics are definitely gonna be top 3 in the East fsho...who knows maybe they might win the Eastern Conference after all...they have a great chance of doing that!
Ainge looks like the smartest guy in the world now lol
Theo Epstein just got Eric Gagne so they're gonna be good
Patriots nabbed Randy Moss in the offseason!

Anyone who adds KG looks good. It doesnt mean he all of a sudden has a brain. The clueless McHale loves to hose up my favorite team. Although it's a sad day in Minny we had to do something to reserect my team.
KG's salary has strapped us for years and his surrounding cast of characters wasnt getting any better. Boston has become a contender in the East and should get into the playoffs. KG will continue to give 120% for the Celts, Ray Allen will gimp thru the season and PP will be steady throughout.
As far as Minny..We love Al Jefferson, hate Telfair (he will be gone and never wear the uniform), Ratliff -one year and off the books, Gerald Green (the wrong green) athletic and hopefully will contribute. 1st round in 2009, was ours to begin with so they just made it right. Long story longer, salary cap relief is huge to the T-wolves. Come back to me in a few years when the youngens mature and start winning championships..

There is alot of potential to this move. However, anytime you bring in the " age " factor, there is always the unknown of injuries. This could be the worst deal ever if K.G. or Ray go down early in the season. The Boston Celtics will put butts in the seats now and that is one of the reasons that this is a great move for them. As for a ring or a championship automatically, I will hold my comments on that for a future date. They will win more games than they did last year for sure.

Definitely the right move even I'm surprise. Garnett is a great player that is chain by the Wolves. Now he's free, let hope he can show what really he can do in NBA now. I just hope that he won't make the Celts the beast of the East.

Yes. Finally he made a decent move. Granted this team is an older one now, after he was trying to go with the youth movement the past 3 seasons. If this idea fails, can't say he didn't try to bring some good players to bean town.

I think he had to make some sort of move because ray allen and paul pierce while entertaining wouldn't do much for you... throw in garnett and thats a pretty crazy lil trio they have on their hands.. also the celtics were going down the tubes after a long time of mediocrity... they didn't have time to wait for the future they needed to make a splash now and they did... might not be the best move for their future but they needed it now... good move by ainge

Now all of the Celtics stars are over 30, in at least 4 to 7 years they will all retire, and Danny Ainge has to look forward to Kendrick Perkins and Big Baby to lead the way......hopefully they'll be stars by then.
*prays for Big Baby and Perkins to be stars*
