Isn't that a silly thing to say? How can you live in a society and not be affected by the governance in that society?

It may seem a silly thing to say, but actually, for many folk, including myself, it makes very little difference which government we have, at least not here in UK.

I'm not saying they're all going to be the same, they're not.

The present Labour government is nothing like the Labour government of Clem Atlee of 1945-1950 - believe me, I know because I was there.

Successive governments have over the decades carried on doing very much what the previously elected government did. No real changes happens, just an adjusment of the screws.

So, no matter which party I vote for, whoever gets into government is going to carrying on just as before and continue to over tax me and put all sorts of restrictions upon my movements and will do it's utmost to curtail my liberty.

If you were born in 1941 as I was and you grew up in the 1950s, you would have some understanding of what the word freedom actually means.

We are not free in UK we are slaves to work and money.

Thankfully I am now a pensioner and four of you workers are paying for my State Pension, so get off here and back to work.

Well people may feel that way because they don't participate, and as long as the economy stays somewhat healthy they are satisfied. If their bank account were frozen things would be very different. But many people realize that money is what influences politics much more than voting. If you live in a non-competitive state dominated by one party then your vote seems a lot less important.

"All elections are simply advance auctions on stolen goods." (1)

The question is - Who will be stolen from and how much? If you pay taxes, you are affected. If you Don't pay taxes but you lose your job because someone in league with the devil got you to vote for tax hikes on the rich out of envy, you are effected by politics. If your loved ones can't support you in times of trouble because they pay taxes, you are effected.

It's true in my case. Whoever is president has very little affect on my life. I do well because I work hard. I am happy because of the people in my life, not because of who is in the White House. In actuality, it makes very little difference, as nothing changes regardless of who is in power.

Say politics and most people assume you mean what happens in Westminster, when it is actually everything that happens around them, including the food on their plate, the music they listen to and the TV programmes that they watch. It is a general ignorance

Of course politics affects everyone.

People who say that it does not are silly really.

Ignorance is bliss. There is very little that can affect them other than what goes on politically.

The book u have not read remains unwritten until u have read it, if the people in question have not learnt what politics is, then politics remains unknown in their world.
