many jobs are stepping stones to something better. It's called "paying your dues" when you get and keep one of those kinds of jobs for a while. Usually you pay your dues (so to speak) for two or three years while learning. It's the kind of job that gives you income while you continue to look around at what's better you could get into, what else you could do that you really like during the evenings or weekends, gives you time to get more education and specialize, gives you time to build your relationship at home, gives you time to have kids, gives you time to build your community relationship and get to know the neighborhood. But remember that not all jobs in the workplace are exciting, most really are rote and boring, and a boring job lets you build stability and loyalty. Would I carry on, sure.

How many people are so fortunate enough to enjoy doing something they get paid for? However, something we are very good at would also not necessarily mean we enjoy doing it. At this age, if we can be fortunate enough to get a secure job with good pay and benefits, what more can we ask for? It would be silly to just do something we enjoy doing but pay peanuts. Financial planners are using "Are you putting enough aside for your retirement?" as a selling point. By the time you think that you have "enjoyed" enough and start to look for a more secure and well paying job, it may be too late to build your nest egg. Times are different. Just compare the prices of housing, food and taxi fare to our parents time. Thus, I WILL certainly carry on with that great job.

For me… I would say no. Of course, you would have to be realistic and hold onto that job to fulfill financial, personal, and self-supporting obligations. But in my opinion I would encourage you, as I myself would do in that situation, to find another job – one that not only inspires you to excel, but also captures your interests and holds passion to your heart! I know this perhaps sounds like an unrealistic thing, but that is only because if you believe it to be only a dream, then sadly it will remain as such. In whatever you do there should passion and desire. I for one would rather have a job that pays me less and that I love to do than to have a higher paying job that I find myself robotically performing without any interest, desire, and enthusiasm.

With most jobs you spend about 1/3 of your life with working… that means the people, place, and work you do is **a part of you**and what sense does it make to have something that involves so much of your time be something you dread to do? Another reason is there are so many of us with such great talents and skill and yet we hinder both the world and ourselves by not sharing those beautiful skills. What a shame it would be for great artist to work in accounting and never share a piece of art that could have possibly been a lifelong masterpiece hung in a museum. Or what about a brilliant inventor who simple settles for his 9 to 5 desk job and does not follow his dream and have the courage to go after that invention that could possibly change the world.

Therefore, I say to you this, passion and desire is what fuels the fire to success. Go after your desire in whatever you do and never let mediocrity stand in your way! Cheers!

If we are talking about you - please hang on for a bit longer and be sure that you need to look for a new one. You are still so young but now is the time to move about and be sure you learn as much as possible and also make some money. I can tell you a secret - most jobs that make you feel happy and/or complete don't pay well or have few benefits. I enjoy my volunteer work so much - and no one pays me to do it. Enjoy life!

I would carry on because sometimes you can't get another opportunity with great jobs, even if I'm not that excited with it. Opportunites just don't knock on doors...So I would carry on until I am 100% sure I'll get another great job.

Yep. It's that whole putting a roof over your head and food on the table thing. Not too mention, in order to go do fun stuff, like movies or travelling, or fairs, or anything, you need to have money. I pound dirt, Eric. Not much exciting in that, but it pays the bills well.

You only just got that job, your first one after college? Use it to build up the experience that you need and keep an eye out for better jobs.

No. I would rather work for free in a job I enjoy than have a job with the greatest benefits in the world, but that I don't enjoy.
