Liberals are really broken records. :/ The fact is that Iraq is NOT the lost cause you make it out to be, and the more I hear from people who have actually been there, the more I realize just how untrue the "lost cause" and "civil war" mantras are.

Yes, I know it's an "opinion", but I prefer the informed opinions of someone who has actually VISITED Iraq than the opinions of democrats (*coughharryreidcough*) who don't even attend strategy briefings and yet continue to moan about how the war is lost. And I prefer the informed opinions of someone who has been over there over the general sensationalism and lop-sided reporting of the MSM.

Iraq being a lost cause is your opinion. People that think like you made your mind up since day 1 it was a lost cause, and no information short of an announcement of our withdrawal, victory achieved or otherwise, is going to make you happy. So why don't you just give up and wait it out like the rest of the country.

You will be dissappointed in September. Also expect to see over 100,000 troops in Iraq in 2009! The troops are not going anywhere, except for victory and your defeat. The driveby media is starting to change their tune why do you think that is taking place? Because Al Qaeda is being beaten by Petreaus. So are the Shia militias.

It's not a lost cause... recently, we have been making more progress.

There are only a few small pockets with all the problems... the majority of the country is safe and stable. WE NEED TO KEEP THE SAUDI'S AND THE IRANIANS OUT! They are the trouble makers.... usually.

If we lose in Iraq, do you understand the consequences? We are in the mess, we need to see it through and finish the job. And it is not about facing reality... it is about not having another Vietnam, and not leaving an unstable middle east, and having to go back in 10 years....

Maybe you're right, screw the Iraqi people! Yeah, if they're too stupid to get their act together by now, then to heck with them! I'm with you, the innocent civilians of Iraq aren't worth any American resources! I say abandon them to their own incompentence, and anyone else whose liberty might cost soldiers' lives too! What kind of neocon madman would ever dare send military personnel into harm's way anyhow?

[insert sarcasm here]

Many refuse to even consider thinking that way, because it would force them to admit that the last 3 years (or the last 5 years) were a mistake.

So, they (Bush and his supporters) blindly push forward, because that's the only way to avoid facing reality.

The reality is that what we do in Iraq doesn't matter because we can neither "win" nor "lose". It's only the Iraqi people and the Iraqi govt who have a stake in the outcome, and in the end it's up to them whether they stabilize their country or not.
