Anonymity is non-compulsory. it extremely is on the point of the media. The founders asked that contributors adjust themselves and not demonstrate their identity at a public point while speaking approximately their AA club. there have been assorted motives for this. Firstlly they theory the action picture star who spouted how great AA replaced into one week and have been given under the impression of alcohol the subsequent might harm AA's popularity. additionally, they felt it positioned a great number of rigidity on human beings attempting to stay sober if the media began taking an pastime in despite if or no longer they made it or no longer. and additionally, they wanted people who have been worried approximately there identity being printed outdoors AA to sense reassured that their club replaced into no longer public. So anonymity is on the point of the media and public, yet no longer unavoidably interior of AA. you will notice that Bob would not demonstrate his final call.

I've never been to a meeting since I decided to become teetotal when I was 17, however as I understand it, no minutes are kept of the meetings, no last names are used and no lists of members are kept. I may be wrong.

You do not give your last name and really you could call yourself anything you liked, it would not matter. Besides the things said in those rooms are meant to stay in those rooms. Kind of like Fight Club, ha ha.

Because it's your decision for them to know who you are. You could totally just shun everyone if you wanted to. Which, if you think about it, would most definitley be awesome. You could be the"emo alcoholic" in the corner. teehee. I'm sooo going to an AA meeting next week...
