You give a gift to bring happiness to the one you give it to, but you also get pleasure out of choosing something you think they would enjoy! It seems like today people don't think about the special thought it took to actually buy the gift and choose it with care. I do think it is rude to exchange something just because you do not like it, but as a friend, I would want the person to be happy with what they got. So,I would try really hard not to be hurt, but next time I would give a gift card.

No- I wouldn't be offended, it is better than the "re-gifting" my gift and 3 months later my mom ends up with or something! However, I save everyone the problem of disliking a gift, I just go with the gift card and write words from the heart in the card.

It depends, I spent almost 3 months searching for this special (expensive)watch for my husband..when he opened it he was a bit disappointed, the DIAL was the wrong color, so he exchanged it (to the amazement of the jewelers) for a totally different brand watch! I was kinda hurt, but really would have rather had him have something he really wanted than wear something he hated because it was a gift.
The only question I had was why did he just not have the dial changed out!!

Depends on the situation. If it was like my cousin at one Christmas where she got this nice sweater from my grandma, looked at her younger sister and said you can have it that is ugly, and I don't want it...in front of them...yes I would be offended. If they came up to me and said I am going to exchange this because this won't work or fit, I would say go ahead, get something you like!

Somewhat, especially if I put a lot of thoughts and effort in choosing a gift that I felt the person may like.

A little, unless it's a clothing that doesn't fit or something of that kind, but they sure won't get anything from me anymore... Bastards !!!
I hate also people using the gift you give them to give it to someone else

Not at all. I always put the gift receipt in a small envelope with the gift. I have bigger fish to fry.

Yes... Unless they'd already received one of the same - I'd hope if they were going to exchange it I didn't know about it
