This site includes two areas for "Family Care" and "Family Caregiver Support". I suggest you go through those two thoroughly...

yes in most states. When someone elderly or one on disability they are given a caregiver allowance..the paper must be faxed or mailed each month and it is usually hourly pay for 4 hours a day at 9-10 dollars and hour..I know in Georgia Kansas for sure before her death my sister on disbility received the allowance and paid it to her daughter to clean and cook for her, also due to a small income for yourself you may be eligible for food stamps and medicaid to keep youhealthy while you take care of Dad and fed..Good Luck in applying

In California it happens all the time. You need to check with social services where you live. I don't know that it would be enough to keep you living in the style to which you are accustomed, but if you aren't the one to give the care the state will have to pay someone else to do the care.

I don't think it's the government's job to pay you for something you should already be willing to do. This is a parent. And the government never paid your parents to take care of you. What ever happened to the "Family" side of this? When did profit come first? And yes, I take care of my Father because of who he is, not how much I'll make.

Yes, in many circumstances you can be paid to take care of someone in your home and your conditions sounds like you might qualify, you have a parent, you have a NEED, go to Social Services in your county and speak with them.

A lot depends upon the state. I know in Florida, where I live, at one time you could, but it was difficult to get, only so much funding. Things are probably harder now.
You need to make some calls; and, to have any chance at success, keep calling.

In Arkansas you can train to be a care-giver for the aged through the Arkansas Agency on Aging. Otherwise caregiving is just on your own.

If my resources are correct, Texas will pay some people for taking care of a family member, but they won't pay a family member to take care of their own.
You might try this link. Good Luck!

YES,YES,YES,YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You can get paid if he/her is on medicad, or medicare. If you stay there so many hour at a time and really do the work that needs to be done..................I have some family member who did that with my grandmom, and two dif aunts. I live in Texas, But medicad and medicare is not a state operated deal. Call them and talk to them. They may try to run you around, and around, But stop calling. Find every no# you can to call. S.S. offices can help too.

I don't think so. It is nice of you to take care of him/her. Your parents are your responsibility. I plan on using my savings for just that reason and I hope I can count on my kids to do the same for me. People also want help to take care of their children. It's called welfare.
