Nigeria is a country in North Africa. It is most famous for it's fraud and mugging industries. If your friend works in the oil business he has most likely been abducted. Hope this helps!

A friend of mine was held up at machine gun point by a policeman in Nigeria and that was on arrival as he left the airport. He had to pay $20 to pass!
No one in thier right mind would choose to visit Nigeria. I have worked in African countries and they are all corrupt, Nigeria being recognised as the worst and Ghana probably one of the best.

Nigeria is one of the worst countries in the world in term of corruption and scams..... every person there can be corrupted which makes business dealing very difficult.... your friend should be very carefull about who to trust over there.if that person is british then the consulate repatriate them if necessary or emergency......... but if they have been scammed by some local get rich schemes or else then there is little they can do.

Without knowing how your friend got sucked in it's hard to say what web of corruption is now holding him ..

I suggest he abandons whatever business he thinks he has out there and gets on the first plane out ... (he may have to out-bribe the airport guards)

... I had a friend who was a lorry driver and was employed to deliver a load to Lagos .. he eventually managed to WALK over the border to escape
