Let us try to save some ones life. By the proper placement of CO detectors. CO is a heavy Gas so where would u find it. By sleeping on a bed instead of the floor U will reduce the chance that CO will smother U. The normal life in a CO detector is about 3 years. After that it will not detect anything.

A tenth grader has taken algebra, so give them an experiment that uses that level of math. For example, a good possibility could be the calculation of a parabolic arc.
Another might be an application of conservation of momentum. Still another might be an application of conservation of energy.

How about trying to find your position on the earth as accurately as you can?
You would have to measure the angle of the north star above the horizon. This will help you find your latitude. To find your longitude you would need to consult a reference (like, what time does the sun/moon rise at various longitude values at this time of year) and then measure the time of sun/moon rise... (without looking directly into the sun :p)
Once you have values you could check how accurate they are by putting them in google maps.
