There was a song that is absolutley NOT available anywhere in the world on CD (I don't know why because it is a well known and famous song (in the UK)). I recorded it from an official site (yes, legally and paid for!) onto my PC, then transfered it to the CD-R, but it doesn't play on my hi-fi. What have I done wrong?

(I know that it can work, because I know people have (illegally) recorded from the internet onto CD-R and then played it on their hi-fi)

Whatever CD recording software you're using, please see to it that you select the option "Make Audio CD" or any option that means that.... If your player can play MP3 then you can also select any option that means "Make MP3 CD".... The song will not play if you have just burnt the CD by dragging and dropping into the drive and asking windows to burn it or if you have burnt the CD as a data CD... Hope it helps... :)

You cannot just copy a music file (MP3, WMA etc) onto a CD and it will work.

You need to make an audio CD which you can do in Windows Media Player, Nero etc.
