good question. personally i would seek the death penalty, though that doesn't bring satisfaction or even closure, considering your loved can't be brought back. Death can be looked at as an escape from prison, so many people argue that a long, extended prison sentence is the answer. However prison costs civillians tons of money, and in the end the convict learns to survive and live in this new world and new environment. Once you have someone you love taken from you in such a crime, allowing the guilty party to adapt to prison life seems too lenient. It is good enough that we no longer torture someone condemned to death - instead they die as humanely and painlessly as possible. I dont think I could move on with my life and pick up the pieces, knowing that somewhere out there was a person who killled my mother/father/brother/etc. They just have to die.

I agree with Duk Dong at least you get some satisfaction.. Prison is not as bad as you might think. It has been proved that many criminals re offend because prison life gives them security that society does not. Death? well maybe its not that bad. If you believe in God all he has to do is repent and he will go to heaven, if you don't believe then it just darkness and nothing so where is the punishment? If you are a Buddhist ( or one of the other religions) he can come back and live his life again and again.

If I knew they would never get out of prison perhaps life in prison. I saw a program of life in prison and it's really terrible. They would have to worry about when they might get cut by another inmate and killed or live with being abused. The food is horrible. They are locked up 23 out of 24 hours. This is not living.

From my witness experience, it really doesn't matter if the person goes to prison or sentenced to death. Both will NEVER bring back your loved one, NEVER make it right, NEVER change the fact that it happen. To send someone to prison for life doesn't mean that they will torture themselves knowing what they did, who they are, their actions. The real truth is they don't care, they didn't care then, they won't care later. The true fact is they spend the first years wanting to get out and then the rest as if they never been out. To put someone to death are you really serving a payment, not to them. To their family just as that terrible person did to you. My family member does not suffer, the family suffers. Either way it goes no justice will really be served. As a person, you have to say I will not allow this person to kill me everyday.

Capital punishment ensures that that person, who may have criminal tendencies, will not murder anyone else. It's also serves as a very strong deterrent against other murders, and in a holistic view, isn't it a good thing if putting the murderer of your loved one to death helps to prevent other murders from occurring?
Capital punishment is cheaper too, as the state doesn't have to pay for that person's food, clothes, electricity and water use, etc in prison.
Of course, it depends on the circumstances; for example, if the murderer was born mentally deficient, then I think the state should have compassion for their circumstance and not put them to death. Alternatively, if the murderer killed in the intention of self-defense, then he or she should be given a lighter sentence.

Life in prison. Death is the easy way out, no suffering for them. You mess with my family, I want you to suffer and let those thoughts rot in your brain for life.
But before they go to prison, Id like the opportunity to beat the **** out of them for a couple hours.

He has to be punished according to law.In the prison, the person has no other choice to think other than the murder he committed. So he will know the mistake he did.If he was put to death then there is no chance to accept his mistake. So in my opinion he has to spend his rest of life in prison. But, to stop this type of murders the man should be put to death so that the other people do not try to murder any person.

Prison = Taxpayers are billed for your lifetime stay
Death = Criminal pays for his own crime
I dont understand why we give criminals life in prison and then charge ourselves the bill...
Is that not making us accountable for their actions???
If I didnt have anything to do with putting you there, I shouldnt have to pay to keep you there...
I think there should be a poll taken with every life sentence....every voter in that area should have to vote...
Do you want to pay this criminals bill at the prison for a lifetime? Or, should we put him to death?
If we could bring the prison bills down, we could have more money where its needed....
SCHOOLS!
HOMELESS!
WE COULD BETTER EDUCATE OUR CHILDREN SO THEY DONT END UP LIKE THEIR PARENTS AND GET PEOPLE OFF THE STREETS AND INTO JOBS AND A NORMAL LIVING ENVIROMENT!!!!
I SAY GET RID OF THE JUNK! (prisoners)
MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE QUALITY OF EDUCATION OF CHILDREN AND HELP THE NEEDY !!!!

I would want to kill him/her myself, but if there was no other way I would want him/her to die, but we don't have the death sentence here in Sweden and that's good. 'Cause you wouldn't wanna choose prison for the person who has killed your loved one, but maybe that would be more of a punishment for him/her.

Of course the first impulse is kill the sucker, but then you have to really think about it. Personally I think killing is wrong whether it is a person or the government. So I think I would like this person put away for a long long time.
