Assuming that you still have the figure for them, when is it wise to stop?

Well im 25, and am a owner of mini skirt and also some cute hotpants. I dont really wear them when i go out, usually in the back garden, when the weather is nice.

Im skinny and look a lot younger than people think, so i get away with it more. Just take for ecample kate moss, still looks good in them at 35.

Its a no for britney spears, - http://www.sfgate.com/blogs/images/sfgate/dailydish/2006/06/19/dd_spears200x266.jpg

wearing a mini skirt depends on the woman's figure and legs. some women in the 50s can still wear a mini skirt but generally i would imagine around late 30s to early 40s is probably the age when a woman should start lowering the hem of her dress/skirt.

Regardless of whether or not one has the culturally-acceptable figure for them, I don't think their necessary at all, especially those four inch long things that barely cover what should be covered. I quit wearing really short skirts when I decided that it was neither necessary nor appropriate (despite being married) to wear something that tiny. As a woman who is six feet tall, I have some skirts and dresses that fall about four inches above my knee. When I wore one of the bigger ones this spring because it accommodated my growing pregnancy belly, I felt as though I was exposing too much leg, especially when I sat. Yet, five years ago when I got the skirt, I was fine with the length. (Last fall, I was blessed with some suits, skirts, dresses and pants from a friend who exceeds my height by four inches. She said that she didn't think she would be a 12 again and remembers what it was like to not have much money, and needing clothes. Most of her stuff came from the Tall Girl specialty shop and are good, classic cuts. They should last me awhile. Because of that, my shorter skirts became even more short feeling.)

As I implied, I like fitted, complimentary cuts and styles that are not frumpy cover appropriately.

However, I do like seeing women who are confident with themselves where something that they may not have the "socially acceptable" body for.

As stated above by Taoslady there is no "cut off" age for mini skirts. Absolutely crazy and juvenile to state a specific age for not wearing them!!! I have seen women well into their 60's wearing them and look great in them because their legs still looked good. With pantyhose to hide leg problems the "age limit" can also be greatly extended. Clearly there is no "LIMIT". Kudos to those with the courage to wear them at "old age".

I don't think that there is a "certain age" Christina.
I am 35, the best shape of my life (size 6) and I wear mini skirt with 5" stiletto heels when ever hubby and I go out on date nights. He loves to see me dress this way and I have the confidence in myself to do it. It's only for him so I don't care what anyone else may say or think! They don't matter!
If my hubby thinks I look great then that is all that matters to me. If you have the confidence in yourself and are in good shape, there is no age limit!

A few people already said it, but I don't think anyone should ever wear a mini-skirt even if you have the body for it. I'm not trying to be a prude because I think if you have a nice body it's ok to wear skirts just not ones that are so short if you sit down someone could see your, I'll just use the term cootie cat, or your butt. There's plenty of nice skirts that are short but I just think the mini-skirt should be left alone. It's kinda sad to see young girls (11-16) in skirts so short if bend over or sit down you'll see their private areas, so I'd really hate to see on older lady in one.
