Do you mean power over other countries (if so, nucleur weapons, its the only way) or a world empire? see below.
First, remove religion. Seriosly, its a peasant control system with a basis in fear. If you knew Christinity taught that when you died their was no afterlife, do you think anyone would go to church? It worked for a while, but now its just holding us back and causing annoyances in society, for example the various bombings that are happening now by people who think they are going to heaven. (seriously? They think that will work?)
Then, education. Make all people think that what is the most important right now is getting humans to survive for all eternity right across the universe (my viewpoint at any rate). This will mean everyone will work for the common good, and accept a world power as long as it has been approved by all nations and not controlled by whoever suggested it.

In order to become world power , we need to do the following things-:
1. Try to increase our G.D.P rate
2. More rapid industrialization
3. Increase is also required in our agricultural output
4. More litteracy, more oppourtunities for technical,
professional and higher education
5. More exports so that more foreign exchange can come
home.
6. But most important all we need to stop our growing rate of
population, because whatever we achieve is overcome by
our population. If we move 2 steps forward then growing
population makes us go 1 step backward. Therefore in
order to become world power , increasing growth rate of
population needs to be checked first of all.

make other nations dependant on you. Starting wars or scaring people will result in a nation eventually gettingblown away by everyone else. Power is money and resources, not weapons. Just have enough brute force to defend yourself from being taken over if another nation were to invade.

Develop highly Skilled manpower, which is required worldwide and allow them to migrate to other countries, this is not brain drain. Skilled people seeking employment in their country and not getting it is brain going in drain.
Once Indian control the economy of a country we will become a soft force and respected.
