Buy an auto box, the manual boxes are rubbish. I've just driven a straight 550 miles in mine and it handles like a dream.
The boot is big enough for luggage for two people to, so I don't know where John Paul got that idea from.
As for the comments that it looks like a dog squatting, could be true (beauty being in the eye of the beholder and all that...) but I get so many great comments about mine, I even caught a lad taking photo's of mine with his camera phone because he loved it so much, an last night I was stopped at the lights and got the thumbs up from another driver.
You don't need convincing - just go for a test drive today.

It sounds like you already know the answer so go with V6. You good gas mileage but yet you are asking this question. The V6 will still get good gas mileage when you drive on long hauls. The 4 and 6 will get about the same mileage in the street so there isn't really a big difference here.

Bought a 2006..Love it. I am not looking for a high performance vehicle. Just something fun to drive and the bonus is that it turns heads..and it does. Maybe every one just thinks it looks like a dog having a poo..lol..but that's not what they tell me when they stop me on the street!!
It will be driven about 3000 miles a year, until I retire in 2010 and move south...then maybe I'll drive it more. I don't care about bad reports and will not let that spoil my fun.
I will pay for repairs..and whatever else happens. I paid cash for the car and will sell it later ,if it comes to that.
When and if the time comes to sell it, I doubt I'll have it rotting on my front lawn because no one wants it..

Just size alone! One person might be ok two people luggage won't fit. And what is up with that little shutter wing behind the rear window. Extra 10# of down force signaling the world I just drove fast? I think you could do much better for your money. Look at a Nissan 2005 anneversary 350Z or 2006 Z 305 hp and handling still not big inside better built.

The Xfire is a German built car (Mercedes). The following statement should help you with your choice. Sales for the Xfire were so much lower than expected that most of them are actually older than they appear. In this I mean that some of the 06 models are actually 05 cars that were rebadged as 06. The cars are severely overrated. For the price, you could get a far superior car in every category.

Well I think they look quite nice but all the reports I heard put me off getting one. They are, by all accounts I heard, like pigs in lingerie. Crude, unwieldy, terrible handling, archaic technology and so many other cars are better value for money.
Ain't I full of good news? Sorry.

I would avoid them like the plague. Top Gear gave it a total slating, which enfored my original opinion. Bad handling, crappy interior, etc (it is american after all..)
So why even waste your money on this car? Think about trying to sell it on, that could be tricky given its reputation.
Unless you have money to burn of course...
