For preference with a Kalashnikov AK47 but unfortunately they tend to lock you up for that sort of thing so

1 talk to the person you have the issue if they just tell you to go away or not prepared to talk

2 Call in a mediator usually a higher level manager

What I aim to do is to try to understand the other persons point of view and get them to understand mine a work on gaining common ground. Often conflict is over a misunderstanding or misinterpretation and if you address this the conflict will resolve itself. If not sometimes you just have to avoid the person, and hope either they or you move out of the department.

I presume that you refer to a personality conlict, as opposed to the stupid coffee machine.
Which is now dented.
Well, a bit of humour works every time.
Nothing malicious against those that offend in what should be a freindly enviroment, for the good of all involved.
A light-hearted joke with an awkward collegue regarding some daft office policy or whatever will function on a social level every time.
"Hey that bloke is OK" sort of thing.
All the best,
Bob the negotiator.

thres several approaches, ill tell you two of them.

1- The Mans approach
2- The CIvilised approach

Civilised apporach is where you talk to one another, go see your boss, take eachother out for coffee. basically, beocme friends. (that is a gay way yeah)

The mans approach is a full on fight to the death using what ever office equipment you can get your greasy mits on! when your meant to be phoning clients, be torturing your arch nemesis with the staple gun, and mutilating him in the paper shredder. try blinding him in the photocopier, or maybe even throwing him from a first floor window! Its last man standing!

it depends on SO many things -
how serious a conflict, does it interfere with the work or its quality, is it causing hostility and problems among a lot of people, is it with you boss?

because all of these can be sensitive, advice for one might be exactly wrong for a different situation.

the wise and handle things maturely. invite the person or people concern to ur office and ve a hrt-hrt talk wit them on the issue, make them free to air their opinion and see things from their perspective- making them c things from urs too. open confrontation only makes matters worst cos they fight back to defend themselves especially if people are watching.,
