Magellan's life was ended by a Filipino warrior, Lapu-lapu in the battle of Mactan in the Philippines.

in our history, we were taught that Lapu-Lapu, a sort of native filipino with authority, fought the spaniards lead by Magellan, and in that battle, Lapu-Lapu killed Magellan by piercing him with his sword. but as i recall, Lapu-Lapu was also killed in that battle by one of the spaniards. =)
