In a rumor I heard the mets were talking to the oakland a's about a trade that would send milledge to oakland for joe blanton would this be a good deal for the mets? Does Blanton have the talent to be a future Ace? Milledge has been hyped to be the next carlos beltran if the mets do this deal personally I think it would be the biggest mistake since the Kazmir - Zambrano trade since milledge has the value too bring in a dontrelle willis a roy oswalt who where rumored to be in a deal for milledge does anyone agree with me or I'm I over rating milledge as this great player that won't be? I'm I under rating Blanton? Please let me know

It's true that Milledge has a larger upside than Blanton based on their current performances and skill level, however, teams always have to pay more for a quality starting pitcher. The Mets can replace Milledge much more easily than they can fill the hole in the rotation.

As bad as Mets fans think this may be, there are LOTS of quality outfielders out there and a shortage of quality arms.

Okay, listen up. I've been reading the New York Daily News and listening to WFAN New York and 1050 ESPN Radio in NY as the trade deadline looms. Minaya said in no way is he trading Milledge. Not for Joe Blanton, not for anyone. The Mets are trying to work out deals for BOTH or EITHER Washington's Chad Cordero and Texas' Eric Gagne. The Mets are also pursuing Cincinatti's Jeff Conine to be a backup first baseman as they lack depth on the bench at the position.

I believe you are underrating Blanton who has a good up-side potential. The Dodgers are also interested in him and would love to add him to their starting rotation. Blanton is big and strong at 6'3" and 250 pounds and can throw hard. This year he is 8-8 with an ERA of 3.82 and a WHIP of 1.17 and last year he won 16 games for the A's. I don't think the Mets are very high on Milledge who is not very good in the clubhouse and there are signs he could be another one of those players that has some baggage. I believe a trade for Blanton would be very good for the Mets but I don't believe it will ever happen.

I don't believe this will happen, I think Omar is holding on to Milledge until the "right" deal comes along.

But, in reality, I don't see the Florida Marlins trading their best player (Dontrelle) to their biggest rival, the Mets.

it would be a big mistake leting milledge go.the kid has all the tools you need to be a superstar.give him time, the kid is still young and inmature, but the talent is there.and with all the veterans on the mets ,he will learn the right way on how to be a major leaguer.
