Yes. Your milk WILL come in. I didn't have any leakage whatsoever during pregnancy (I worried a little too) and now I have enough milk to feed a village of infants! Here's how it works. For the first few days (2-4 usually) you will produce colostrum, which is vital to the infants immune system so feed your baby often. Then your milk will "come in". My guess is that you will have so much milk in your breasts that you will look back and laugh that you even worried! You'll have tons of milk for a while - about 3 weeks - then your supply will taper off to meet the demands of your child. (For the first 3 weeks or so your hormones drive milk product. Then your milk production becomes driven by the law of supply/demand and usually tapers off ... unless you have multiples or something.)

I breastfed successfully till 8 mths with both of my babies and I didn't get any leakage until 2-3 weeks before hand and even then it was very little.
Its should actually be colostrum thats leaking out of your friends nipples. It's yellowy in colour and thicker than milk. Breast milk is a watery white colour and runny. Colostrum is the first milk in a womans breasts. It last for about 2 days or so and has all the protective antibodies that are really important to a newborn baby. After that your milk'comes in' and your boobs go up about 6 sizes! till it settles down again that is.
I would recommend rubbing your nipples everyday with 'Lasinoh' cream from now until you have breastfeeding established. It helps condition them for breastfeeding as 'fresh'nipples can get cracked, blistered and painful for 1st time B/F's. Lasinoh is 100% natural and you can have it on while breastfeeding. You can buy it at any good chemist/pharmacy. It saved my life the first time I B/F. Good Luck with your baby and B/F and remember if you are having trouble B/F ask for help at the hospital and don't leave until you are satisfied you have got the hang of it. Or ring the Australian Breastfeeding Association that can send around someone or talk you through B/F or you can hire a lactation consultant that can help but at a price.

Good Luck!!

Breastmilk comes in 2-3 days after your baby is born. What your friend has coming from her nipples is not actually breastmilk it is colostrum. This is what a baby gets for the first couple of days after the baby is born, it has a lot of nutrients in it and antibodies. Some women will leak colostrum throughout there pregnancy enough even to need a breast pad. Don't worry you will be able to breast feed your baby.

Every person is different. My milk came in early, but I wasn't leaking like your friend until after the baby was born. I'm sure you're going to be just fine.
Breastfeeding is an admirable choice. Let me encourage you to stick with it, even if it's hard at first. It took us a couple of weeks before we had it down pat. I had to use a nipple shield to help her learn to latch on, but it worked like a charm, and she weaned from it a couple of weeks later. Now we're old pros!
Let me remind you that a breast fed baby will eat when it's hungry, which is often times more often then a formula fed baby since breastmilk is easier for a baby to digest.
Good luck!

I had to start using breast pads when I was 19 weeks pregnant. But that is rare. Usually it comes naturally a few days before the baby is born or even a few days later. Don't worry.

For every woman it is different but usually your breasts at least from my expereince starts to leak volostrum around the six month. milk will come in two to three days after birth but you should feed the your baby the colostrum until your milk comes in as the colostrum helps to boost the bebies immune system
