9x + 7 = 5x - 3

Transpose 5x

9x + 7 - 5x = 5x - 3 - 5x

Collect like terms

4x + 7 = - 3

Transpose 7

4x + 7 - 7 = - 3 - 7

Collect like terms

4x = - 10

Divide both sides of the equation by 4

4x / 4 = - 10 / 4

x = - 10 / 4

x = 2 2/4

simplify

x = 2 1/2

x = 2.5

given, 9x+7=5x-3
9x-5x= -3-7
4x= -10
x= -10/4
x= - 5/2
check, 9x+7=5x-3
9(-5/2)+7=5(-5/2)-3
-45/2+7= -25/2-3
-31/2 = -31/2
left hand side = right hand side
so the value of x will be (-5/2)

=> 9x-5x =-7-3
=> 4x = -10
=>x=-10/4
=>x=2.5

9x + 7 = 5x - 3

9x - 5x = -7 -3
*transpose 5x and 7. 5x becomes negative; so does 7.

4x = -10
*simplify/collect similar terms

4x/4 = -10/4
*divide both sides by 4

x = -10/4
*simplify

x = -5/2
*simplify (again)

tada!

so.. let's check!

9x + 7 = 5x - 3

9(-5/2) + 7 = 5(-5/2) - 3
*substitute x with the answer

-45/2 + 7 = -25/2 - 3
*simplify

-45/2 + 14/2 = -25/2 - 6/2
*make them similar fractions

-31/2 = -31/2
*simplify

:D hope this helps.

x = -2.5

Subtract 5x from 9x (leaving you with 4 x). Subtract 7 from -3 (leaving you with -10).

-10/4 = -2.5

By putting x together, we get 9x-5x=-3-7
after computing, we get 4x=-10
dividing by 4 in both sides, we get x=-10/4
which isthe same as x=-5/2

9x+7=5x-3
9x-5x=-3-7
4x=-10
x=-10/4
x=-5/2 or -2 1/2

Put value of x in the original equation
9x+7=5x-3
9*(-5/2) + 7 = 5*(-5/2) -3
-45/2 + 7 = -25/2 - 3
(-45+14)/2=(-25-6)/2
-31/2=-31/2
Hence answer is checked.

take 5x to left side nd 7 to right side
nd the sign changes if we take a number from one side to another
so the equation becomes
9x-5x=-3-7
so 4x=-10
so x=-10/4=-5/2=-2.5

now to check put x=-2.5 in both the sides
nd we see that left side and rt side giv the same result as '-10.5' so our value of x is correct...

9x+7=5x-3
SUBTRACT 7 FROM BOTH SIDES
9x=5x-10
SUBTRACT 5x FROM BOTH SIDES
4x=-10
DIVIDE 4 ON BOTH SIDES
x=-21/2 OR -2.5

+3 to both sides, you get 9x+10 = 5x.
-9x to both sides to isolate the x to one side, you get 10= -4x
divide both sides by -4, you get -2.5 = x
