Absolutely.

Vick threw 2 TD passes in his rookie year, Young threw 12.

Vick ran for 300 yds and a rushing TD, Young ran for 552 and 7 rushing TD.

Young beat Kerry Collins for the starting job, Vick couldn't beat Chris Chandler (ok ok....Chandler was still primed in 2001, but Vick still had plenty of chances to play).

Vick never was capable of turning around games. Young lead to a comeback victory vs the Giants after being 0-21 behind and another vs the NFL champions Colts after being 14 points behind. He had two more comeback victories that season.

4 comebacks in a rookie season. Of course I don't say that he will be better than John Elway, but he has a realistic shot to pass Elway's 47 comebacks.

Finally, Young was the Rookie of the Years and went to the Pro Bowl.

Final answer: Yes, Vince Young was better than Michael Vick in the first year.

Vince Young FIRST year is way better then Mike Vick first year. But if you mean if Vince Young is better then Mike Vick Hell Naw. Young had 12 Tds and 13 Ints, well Vick had 20 Tds and 13ints.

Of course because Young played a lot more than Vick. Vick only threw 113 passes his rookie season. Young threw 357. You can't really even compare them. Vick was put in before he was ready, but improved. Young was about ready, but still improved.

Vick is, always has been, and always will be (if he even plays) a crappy QB. He is a killer athlete....You can't take that from him. But he is a horrible QB. I think Vince is well on his way to being a better QB...maybe even a better athlete down the road.

Vick didn't exactly have a spectacular first season in the NFL, so I'd say yes.

Yes.. Young has shown you that he would RRATHER throw the Ball than run with it. Young only runs after contact from pressure is imminent, otherwise he stands in there waiting waiting waiting patiently for sumone to flash open. Vick has NEVER been able to do that.
