CT has a cute little law allowing towns to prevent people from getting cars registered if they owe taxes.
Ran afoul of this twice:
1) A town I never lived in wanted me to pay taxes. They extorted taxes from dozens maybe hundreds of non-citizens. Kept saying I didn't prove that I didn't live there.
2) A town wanted me to pay taxes on a totaled car for several years after despite repeatedly providing proof the car was totaled.

You think it's unfair that the US is not allowed to impose US law on a Canadian citizen.... would you want Canada or Germany or India or Iran imposing its laws on the US citizen? Or does your desire that one country can reach into another only apply when your country is the one doing the reaching?
Personally, the most unreasonably laws in my eyes are the ones that regulate personal conduct, based solely on the fact that some people don't like that conduct, when no objective harm is done.

To me the way pre-born children are nothing in the eyes of the government. A snail, a owl, shoot, even a tree has more rights than a child in the womb. What have we become?
