Good Question.
People sigh because there is a space available when their concentration to a task or thinking is broken and a sigh fills the gap. By doing so the act of sighing actually helps us to move on to complete the task. However it is just a temporary push; get out of it before it becomes a habit or you'd be burn out before you know it.
