According to the US gov. - Blacks are 3 times more likely than hispanics and 5 times more likely than whites to be jailed.

YES !! Mostly because of financial status. NO money....no qualified representation. Soooo sad.

Actually, I think the Hispanic jail population is greater than the black population now.

Are you saying the jail population is composed mainly of blacks?! Dude, what world are you living in, if I am not mistaken, there are more whites in jails than blacks.......
If you are in jail, its likely b/c you committed a crime, of course there are those that were jailed for a crime they did not commit, but that is a small portion.

Yes, they are predominantly black for many other reasons besides crime.

yes, blacks are poor and live in cities under conditions where crime is more common, also its racism, did you now that crack cocaine (predominantly a black drug) carries a penalty like 50 times worse then powder cocaine (white)

There is some claim that racial minority defendants receive harsher sentences than white defendants. Statistically, that is true -- though it's unclear whether that is because of prejudice or because of who breaks which laws.
