Hentai is a Japanese word that can be used to mean "metamorphosis" or "abnormality". In Japan "hentai" has a strong negative connotation, and is commonly used to mean "sexually perverted". The term is used as slang for sexually explicit or pornographic comics and animation, particularly Japanese anime, manga and computer games.

... are you asking why hentai is created...? Because there are a lot of people who don't like real-life situations (which is why they like anime/manga). Some people just prefer anime porn instead of watching actual people have sex because it looks better to them. *shrugs* I love both. ^-^ In fact, I tend to love yaoi manga more than real-life gay sex because, in my opinion, the guys are hotter and more fantasy-fulfilling when they're drawn. lol (But I still love both!)
Though... hentai usually refers to either hetero porn or lesbian porn, not so much yaoi (which has its own term... "yaoi"... duh).
