a hit American TV sitcom from the 90s, I forget the name - if you can help. He was about 15 in the show and went out with a girl called Tapanga, who was blonde. The show revolved round him at school and at home. Or am I thinking of something entirely different?

No your thinking of Boy meets World. With i think his name was Fred Savage, it was something "Savage" anyway.
