It's a real nuisance. It seems everyones experience is as different as when they started periods. Age varies, frequency varies. Since age 48 I've had mood swings and night sweats, but learnt to live with them. I've had gaps of three months, 6 months, 11 months (twice) and thirteen months. I've now gone 15 months since my last period and am hoping that is it. I was really fed up with all the whole thing. At last the sweats have stopped and I feel good again, I'm now 53. After the first 11 month gap I saw my doctor who said that people vary and to ask my Mum and other close relatives what their experience was, as families are usually similar. Great idea! Except they all had hysterectomies in their forties. So no help there. But you could ask. Hope you get through it quickly - good luck.

more than likely you are in Peri-Menopause which is very confusing and very much LIKE Menopause but its not its just the begining that is why you got you period again go see your doctor eat some chocolate and call me in the morning LOL just kidding. It can be a very scary time and it is ok to ask questions the stupid questions are the ones not asked. so ask away talk to your girl friends check out some books from the library and use Yahoo to help you through this very hard time.

This can also be part of the menopausal stage because the body is trying to adjust to the physical changes going on. When this happens sometimes a period can come regularly for a time, and then be sporadic over time til it stops.
I would recommend getting in touch with your doctor as well to see what else they think might be going on.

it's just like when you first start your periods only going in the opposite direction! your body is on the way to becoming menopausal but needs time to get used to it. in time the periods will stop altogether on their own. the menopause is a natural process and takes time like any other bodily process to regulate.
good luck!

When a woman is going through menopause her periods are irregular. You might not get it for months at a time. Don't worry, it is just normal.
