Well I've heard of many women not knowing they are pregnant for 3 months because their period didn't miss until then. I asked about this and it's completely common I guess (cant remember how it was explained) anyways if its common not to miss a period til then when will an at home pregnancy test actually work?
I got my period the week following unprotected sex but am experiencing many signs of pregnancy. It has only been 13 days since the intercourse took place. Would a pregnancy test work that soon?

i would take a test if i were you. my friend (who already has a child) says that even though you got your period, your next cycle could have started soo...indeed you can have a period and be pregnant and not even know! and then when you miss your period like almost a month later would you realize that something's going on, and you have already been pregnant for about a month or so.

Th "periods" that happen in early pregnancy are just light spotting, and generally not more than once...but this confuses some women who take it to just be a light period, because they aren't really paying attention, or their cycle is generally irregular. If your cycle is clockwork, and you've already had a normal period, then the chance of pregnancy is pretty much nil. You can buy a home test now--it may be a waste of money, but perhaps it will give you peace of mind.

Generally you miss a period the moment you are pregnant. Thats a sure sign of pregnancy . I dont think you are pregnant since you had your periods soon after intercourse. It certainly not common to miss a period and not be pregnant if you are healthy! I think its most uncommon to be pregnant and not miss a period for 3 months! its not the norm.

Yes a home pregnancy test will work. Suggest you put your mind at ease and do it straight away, although it is unlikely that you are pregnant it is not impossible.

The pregnancy test should work whether you are still having periods or not.

Talk to your doctor about your concerns.
