I recently watched Bride & Prejudice starring Aishwarya Rai and found it to be immensely entertaining. But I'm curious to know if the movie is even mildly accurate about Indian culture.

I also saw Monsoon Wedding and one of the key similarities in these movies is the big wedding celebrations that seem to take place over several days leading up to the actual wedding. Is this type of celebration typical of Indian weddings - even if just among a certain segment of the population.

Also, I've heard it said that Aishwarya Rai is the most beautiful woman in the world. I won't deny that she is a real beauty, but I think I preferred Namrata Shirodkar who played the older sister.

yes, that is indeed the procedure for weddings in India! They strech over days! They are colorful and full of music and songs, etc. I like Ashwariya but I liked the older sister too. The culture portrayed in the two movies is quite accurate but obviously the no. of guest you invite depends on you plus how much money are you willing to spend on the wedding also depends.
