My friend moved about a year ago and had become clinically depressed. I've helped her through a lot but about 2 months ago, we started getting in stupid little arguments. B/c of her depression, little things I did turned into huge attacks against her. After one fight, we stopped talking. It's been about a month. I've realized that she is not a very understanding person so I really need to explain my point of view to her if I want this friendship to last. I really need to talk to her in person and tell her why I've done and said stupid things and why it took so long for me to contact her. I want to send her a message on myspace telling her that I really miss her & I really want to talk to her, but I don't know how or what to say. I dont want to offend her or anything. She is REALLY close to me. I love her so much, & I want to help her while still keeping my own needs in mind. I miss her, & I need to sort things out. How do I talk to her? Please answer if you've had a deppressed friend.

By the way, I'm not saying she's bad at understanding because she's depressed. She's just not that great at seeing other people's point of views. She's always been that way. It's not her fault though.

Tell her the same you said here,
that you love her, and care about her, and it's important for you to talk to her.

I think that in her situation she needs someone to listen to her, so she probably needs you despite the way she treats you.
Try to settle things down with her.

i do have a depress friend. the best thing to do at this point is to forget about both of your mistakes and start fresh. call her up sometime soon (maybe leave a warning tht ur gonna call soon on myspace). then just speak from ur heart, like how much u missed her and apologize. she might bring up the fights, just take the blame no matter what. make her feel better. then just forget about them, relearn, refresh and start new.
a phone call works i think i the best cause u don't actually have to see her, but its still a tru connection.
maybe have a basic outline of what ur gonna say written out incase u freak and forget

Unfortunately depression does cause problems. She may forget, or just not want to take medication. She definitely needs something to help her, or she may end up trying to commit suicide. Just tell her that you are sorry, and want to try to work things out between you. Try to read up on what she is experiencing. There is plenty of info on the web. Tell her that you are trying to understand, and encourage her to go to the therapist and take her meds.

By the way, sometimes it can take a couple of years for them to find the right type of meds that will not affect her adversely. Some will make her worse, some will cause other problems, but when they find the right one, she will be happier
