Is there any government agency worse than the EPA except for maybe the IRS? This is a popular, but destructive agency that is raising gas prices to ridiculous levels. When will we shut down the Greens favorite bureaucracy, allowing the price of gas to finally return to market levels for the first time in 35 years (gas prices skyrocked about 35 years ago, which was when the EPA was founded, so the EPA is causing gas prices to go up).

Because of an EPA regulation, no refineries have been built in about 35 years.

However, I wasn't trying to make the best possible argument against the EPA. There are other far better reasons to get rid of it, most of which I'm aware of.

We need the EPA to protect the environment. Gas prices are affected by market forces; not dictated by the Federal government. Here is some info on the EPA.

About the EPA

"The mission of the Environmental Protection Agency is to protect human health and the environment. Since 1970, EPA has been working for a cleaner, healthier environment for the American people.

EPA leads the nation's environmental science, research, education and assessment efforts and it works to develop and enforce regulations that implement environmental laws enacted by Congress. It is responsible for researching and setting national standards for a variety of environmental programs, and delegates to states and tribes the responsibility for issuing permits and for monitoring and enforcing compliance. Where national standards are not met, EPA can issue sanctions and take other steps to assist the states and tribes in reaching the desired levels of environmental quality. "

You are right that the EPA, just like all other govt. agencies, is NOT there to help people, but to benefit the bureaucrats and politicians and lobbyists. It will be gone, along with all the other alphabet agencies, when the Big Changes come in the near future.

Can you explain or corroborate your claim that the EPA is driving the price of petroleum? I have never heard that before and frankly, I fail to see the connection.

Take economics 101 and then get back to me.

Concentrate on supply and demand.

Then you will understand how oil prices are more now then in the past.
