1. It will not speed up your internet in the least, and thus
2. It will not reduce your pings in online games, and
3. 100 Mbps is fast enough for almost every multiplayer LAN game I have played, though if you have a lot of people on the network, a faster connection will help out a lot.
4. Buying a new network card is not enough. You will need a new router as well. Otherwise, you will still only be connected at 100 Mbps.

as said, for internet games, you will hit the limitation on your cable bandwidth before you hit the card's bandwidth.

having a decent, off-board network card can (in some cases) be a minor improvement, and more improvement on FPS, by taking more of the load off of the computer itself. but this is a pretty small amount of difference.

if your really insane and/or money is no object, I would look into one of these. (link attached)

these are CRAZY expensive. and from what I've heard, for SOME very specific uses, can have a noticable difference, as basically what it does, is it has a little itty bitty computer specifically dedicated to handling all that network load, with its own little micro-operating system or something like that, that ENTIRELY takes over the network management, or something like that. (on the Killer NIC, I think the K1 is just a higher-speed version of a standard NIC)

but I've heard some people having some issues with it, and it being no better, or in some cases worse, for some things, because the card is designed for certain things and isn't as good at other things.

but in general, as said, having a decent quality, off-board NIC is going to be enough to move the bottle neck away from that component, generally, onto the connection bandwidth.

If you're hoping it would make your gaming connections over the Internet faster -- It won't make any difference to upgrade your card to a 10/100/1000BaseT; when your incoming cable modem connection is doing great at what, 1.5Mpbs? 3Mbs? -- it doesn't matter if your home network COULD do 10GBs...it's only going to get 1.5Mbps to 3.0 or so.

Where it would make a difference is over an internal network, where you were playing between two home computers. But even then, you'd all have to have the right cards, Cat6, and a router that could handle 10/100/1000.

It is not the prob of Network card (lan card). It depends how much speed the ISP (Internet Service Provider) provides 2 u. 10/100 mbps is enough while the internet speed is merely 128/256 kbps. If u hve Norton antivirus on ur system just remove it. It slow down ur system & internet. Try to upgrade ur RAM. I think it will cheer u up.
