If you are so good with computers, then burn the ISO to a CD, partition your hard drive, and install Ubuntu on the new partition. Ubuntu will install the "GRUB boot loader" that will allow you to choose between Windows and Ubuntu (Ubuntu as default).

You don't need to have a DVD version of Ubuntu. A CD one will be more than suitable, provided that you have a decent Internet connection to download any additional packages that you may want.

The absolute only way that I can think of doing what you want to do is to use a virtual machine. A nice, free one can be found, called VirtualBox. It can boot ISO images, and install operating systems to virtual hard drives. If you were especially industrious, you could make VirtualBox start when Windows does, since it requires very little memory until you load a virtual machine. Then, if you decided not to use it, you could just close it.
