Easily I do this kinda stuff all the time. First turn the computer off and unplug the power. You need to find out what speed the DDR RAM is. You can't mix speeds very safely. Open up the left side of your case. There will be two screws behind it. Usually you can just hand loosen them. Then slide the side of the case off. Just pull from the back. The RAM is usually right next to the processor. The processor usually sits near the top left. Ram is just to the right. They look like little sticks. Usually green. There is white buttons on the top and bottom. Just push those down and they will come right out. Look on the side there will be a sticker. It will say something like DDR-2700, or DDR-3200. When you find out that number you then know what you can upgrade. Also look for Dual Channel on the label. If it is dual you will need to get the same thing. Doing a RAM upgrade is the cheapest and easiest way to get more speed out of your computer and to be able to run more programs. I'm guessing you have 4 banks in your computer, although I'm not sure. If you do then 2 are most likely already taken with 256 chips. If your RAM is dual channel you need to get 512 dual channel. When you buy dual channel you get 2 chips. Each will be at 256. If you don't have dual channel you can just get a 512. Make sure that the largest chip size is in the left most bank. If you have anymore questions feel free to message me on AIM at SecretPorcupine or email me at ajpires_2000@yahoo.com
Go to the site below to buy your RAM. I recommend Kingston or Corsair. They are a little more expensive but are well worth it. They are more reliable. I'm giving you a very good site below to buy from. Don't go to places like Best Buy or Radio Shack. They are way over priced.

Safety is not a problem, over-clocking is a different issue, just get the same type of RAM.

Only issue is: some machines require the larger RAM be in the #1 (0) slot, so check your manual.

Other than that, no problemo

Hi,
I increased my ram to 1024 and regularly clear out the temporary files which seem to accumilate when you spend a lot of time downloading from the net. This usually increases the avaiable memory and also speeds up my machine. (remember I am still a novice so maybe this is not what you are after)

You can upgrade your memory as high as you like. You can use memory sticks, or memory chips;whichever way you want to go. I just upgraded the memory on my pc which is a Dell Dimension 3000, and it has 256MB's of memory and I am upgrading to 1Gig.Which is what I need to play the pc games I play. The memory is 256mb's, and if you add another 256mb's of memory it becomes 512mb memory and so forth. check at Circuit City or Best Buy for the best prices on memory sticks.Ddr memory is a shared memory so you may want to upgrade to 1 Gig.I run my pc wide open at max speed and processing and it has had no problems running it this way.

I am not computer literate but I remember my son going to a place that sells computers and parts and I remember he bought a memeory card of some sort that he put inside of the mother board for more memory. Anyone selling computers and their parts can help you and instruct you on what to do. I believe its the safest way to add memory. Hope this helps.

All you have to do is buy another stick of RAM.

I found one for you on eBay.
