In the 60's & 70's a man with a left ear pierced meant that he was gay and sexually dominant, and having his right ear pierced meaning gay and sexually submissive.

By the 80's & 90's it had evolved to a man with his right ear pierced perceived as being gay and a man with his left ear being pierced perceived as being straight.

Now, it just means a pierced ear.

(Men getting their ear pierced originated with pirates; the value of the earring was meant to pay for their burial if they were lost at sea and their body washed ashore).

Whichever ear they prefer. Some choose the right, some choose the left, some choose both, most choose none. The idea of signalling using an ear piercing is about twenty five years old and no longer means anything.

It's totally irrelevant now. There was some following in the late 80s and early 90s, which was usually the left ear, but now no one does it.

I believe it's the right one. However, I also think it's just part of the stereotypes to look that way.
