I mean do you really know how many people go without and health plan. It's all very distrubing and I think the government should figure out a way to get every last person great healthcare at an affordable price.

It's free market thing and incredibly inefficient gov bureaucracy. It's excellent country if you're in business of selling medicine and health care. Not so great if you want affordable care. Whole thing is designed better for businesses selling medicine.

I agree, it is shameful. 47 million + Americans have no health insurance. The disparity between the rich & the poor is growing wider. To the point where the middle class is the "new" poor.

How does that happen? The Republicans get in office & give huge tax cuts to the rich. They get the money for this by taking cuts from programs destined to help the less privledged--in the last 6 yrs, there have been many cuts from VA (even during war time), from Medicare, Medicaid, student loans, & too many other programs to mention.

We are sending jobs overseas with our fair trade agreements (NAFTA & CAFTA). All those workers who are displaced are usually forced to work for a lesser wages & yet they're expected to keep up with the high cost of healthcare IF their new employer offers it and IF he can afford it with less wages.

We have a soaring economy, the only problem is, the only ones who are benefiting are the wealthy. The other 80% of the people are the ones in jeprady. Yes, the Govt should step in.

Very simple greedy doctors and greedy hospitals. greedy insurance companies.
But which is worse? Having no insurance and only being able to get the bare minimum care at Emergency rooms.
Or insurance being too good and ending up be craved up like a Christmas turkey for nothing.
Or ending up with 600 dollars a month prscription medicine when all you went to the doctor for was the flu.
And if they do not realize the tide is turning against them we are going to have socialized medicine and they are going to be on salaries:
And it can be done under the 2nd amendment to the constitution. You know the much mialigned right to bear arms amendment.
It can be done because the second amendment defines the militia as every able bodied male eighteen years of age and older. So simply call up them up into the active militia. i.e. draft their a**ses.
And before anyone jumps on the it will destroy the drug companies and it will destroy research think about this.
Medicine costing Amreicans a 100 dollars a month for a month's supply only cost the rest of the world 20 to 40 dollars a month for the same medicine.
What country came out wiht the first working bonic arm? It was Britan not America.

I totally agree.. it is disgusting about how many people are living without healthcare.. But i do not agree with your belief that the government should supply it.. whats next supply food? how about money?? ok they already do that, see what im saying?? there will always be haves and have nots.. remember you are paying for those people to have welfare and healthcare and the thousand of other government services the government steals from you to supply.. the government does not supply anything!! you supply it!! i would ask you think of why cant those people afford healthcare?? and why can the rich make hundreds of millions or billions and pay less taxes than you per percentage?? how is that?? how come jobs are shipped over-seas?? how come minimum wage is so low, how come people are in debt?? there are many questions to ask, but relying on the government to solve your problems for you is being dependent upon them and guess what?? they need that!! think about it.. do some research, do not just accept slogans that by first sound can not be disserned as negative. check out Ron Paul, imagine if we only paid 5% taxes instead of 35% which really comes to 50% and then we got rid of big government, the people could use that money to afford healthcare.. and other things life would be better.. and if you als increased wages and stopped shipping labor over-seas that means better jobs and better standard of living.. many more ideas out ther than those slogans you are being forced to have an opinion on..

It's sickening. We are #37 on the WHO's list of the world's best health care right above Slovenia!

We're off spending billions with our divine right to spread democracy and we have citizens who can't get free health care. France, the UK and Canada all have absolutely free health care and the lies about a long waits are not true.

Richard Nixon started the first HMO and privatized the health care industry. These companies went off to profit off of the lives of our citizens.

47 million are uninsured and are rarely patients - until it's too late. In the rest of the Western world, everyone and anyone can be a patient because everyone is covered. (And don't face exclusions for pre-existing conditions, co-pays, deductibles, and costly monthly premiums).

And there are even more Americans who keep themselves out of the system because of cost - in the United States, 24 percent of the population did not get medical care due to cost. That number is 5 percent in Canada, and 3 percent in the UK.

Cuba offers healthcare to absolutely everyone!
The fact that the healthcare system in an impoverished nation crippled by our decades-old blockade (including medical supplies and drugs) ranks so closely to ours is ridiculous.
Although Cuba ranks lower overall than the United States, it still has a lower infant mortality rate and longer life span.

Gary E--you're a moron do some research.

People, even if you have a job and health insurance the health insurance companies have a million reasons to deny you treatment and will go to great lengths to save themselves money. Health care is privatized therefore corrupt and greed runs it.

You mean the horrible health crisis that has created the finest health system in the world, or the wonderful health care model such as Canada or France, where you would wait for 6 months for a pacemaker? Somehow, liberals like you think that the "government" is sitting on a big pile of money, when what it REALLY has is OPM (Other People's Money) i.e.taxes...and all the more taxes that it would have to raise through the freaking roof to pay for your "free" health care system. I agree that it is a shame that we don't have a "perfect" system but name one person who was ever turned away from emergency services because they couldn't pay?

well i see it as i have a job...i pay for my insurance why should i go to work and bust my *** so some ppl can half *** theirs or not work at all and every one still have insurance? part of goin to work is pickin if you want insurance or not alot of ppl just don't have cuz they want to save that extra w/e a month its a choice...get a job w/ it don't bitc h about it...if you give it to everyone i think alot of ppl would just quit their jobs that they keep for insurance then the sad part will be insurance companys will deside who gets that heart transpant or if you really need a cast for that broken arm

maybe we should start kickin ppl off welfare (aka the ppl who live next door w/ 4 kids and do nothing) and then maybe the gov't would have extra money to help out the ppl who really need it ex: the woman who leave their husband but has 2 kids works 2 jobs and just that needs help w/ insurance or food, or the girl that was beat and rapped but wants to keep her baby
