Yes I did, just recently on 7/13/2007. It was a horrible experience and I am still experiencing the fallout from it.
I ran out of gas on city streets, and the car stalled right in a bus zone. I called AAA immediately to come help me, and wouldn't you know, within seconds of stalling, a Los Angeles Parking Enforcement Vehicle pulled up right behind me. I got out of the car and said, "Give me a break, I ran out of gas." The guy was a real smartass, and said, "I'm not a mind reader, you know!" I told him that I had my flashers on and had posted the AAA's bright orange "Need Service" sign on my back window. He said that that didn't tell him anything, that if the car was disabled that I needed to pop open the hood. I said I didn't know that I needed to do that if a car ran out of gas, and he said that if I didn't know the rules of the road, then I shouldn't be driving. I told him that I didn't go to college to learn that like him, and then he drove off and called me a "dumbass." I called him "asshole" in return, and then he drove back around and demanded to know what I said. I told him that I called him "asshole" after he called me "dumbass," and then he DEMANDED that I apologize to him for calling me that or he was going to write me a ticket!! I grabbed my cell phone, with a camera, right away and started recording what he said. I said, so you're admitting that you are giving me a ticket out of SPITE? AND he admitted it!! Then he told me that the car was in a bus zone and told me to push it out of the way. Now, I am a disabled man with multiple sclerosis, and I walk with a cane, which he could plainly see. I told him that I couldn't push the car, that I was disabled, and I have a disabled placard plainly displayed from my rear-view mirror. He said, "Not my problem," and then proceeded to give me a $270 ticket!! All the while, he was mocking and belittling me, and I caught him on camera abusing a disabled person!! Then, as he finished, he called me "dipshit" and other names, and then he took out HIS cell phone and took a picture of ME, just to mock me!
I filed a complaint against him with the Parking Violations Bureau, and you know what? They don't care!! I told them that my car was disabled and so am I, but they told that having a disabled car does not excuse me from parking in a bus zone, nor does being disabled count as an excuse for not being able to push the car!! Is this the most messed up sh*t you've ever heard of, or what? So, right now I am drafting a letter to the Parking Violations Bureau, telling them that if they insist on me paying this fine, then I will post the footage of their officer R. Riley abusing a disabled man on TMZ and YouTube! I will also send the footage to all local LA news stations, as well as the ACLU and all other organizations that aid the disabled!
So, that is the story of what happened to me when I ran out of gas recently!

You don't allow e-mail, so I will use this format. I am still trying to visualize a whole bowl of duck soup coming out of your nose. You get high Marx for that response. I have never run out of gas, but my wife has while I was the passenger. It was right in front of a large supermarket mall and just before the on-ramp to the highway. We were fortunate enought to push(we? I pushed it and she steered) it into the store parking lot and I walked a half mile to fill up a gas can. My wife still lets her SUV run all the way till its on fumes. She has not learned from experience.

I used to have a car that didn't have a working gas gauge. I ran out of gas about 4 times. Depending on where I was, I either walked or hitch hiked to a gas station.

LMAO... this is pretty funny.
Only about 4 years ago (when I was the ripe old age of 21) I got with this guy that I was severely attracted to. BTW he was technically my boss from work at the time. We wanted to meet up late one night, and he asked if I would pick him up, spend the night at my place then take him to work early the next morning... lolz
So I agreed. I drove to his place (which was about 20 miles away from my place) and picked him up. On the way back... I ran out of gas!!!! How embarrasing, to run out of gas during a booty-call!!!!
But he ended up running to the nearest gas station and getting a few gallons of gas for me. Then we returned to my place with little else said about it.

I never have, but my husband did once when I was in the car. We were right by a gas station, so we just pushed the car up to the gas tanks and filled up.

While in college, I used to deadhead vehicles from the city in which I was attending school to my hometown for an auto-wholesaler.... They gave me $100 each time and I got a free ride back home to boot. But I had to spend some of that money on fuel, so I tried to get away with buying as little as possible... One time I got a Chrysler New Yorker with the talking computer. I passed one service station convinced I could make it to the next one... but I was wrong! The disembodied voice had warned me, but I was in the midst of passing a transport trailer when I lost power, so I quickly pulled to the side of the road and lifted my hood. Within ten minutes a fellow stopped and asked if I need assistance. I told him what happened, and he said he was on his way to pick up his daughter who worked in the restaurant at the service station 5 miles away!!!
Missed it by THAT much!

No, I guess I am one of the lucky ones in life. I have never run out of gas while driving. Now, the lawnmower is another story!

Yes, I did once! My car stopped on the side of the road. Honestly, I just prayed and asked the Lord to help me out. My car started up and I made it just far enough to the next gas station.
