what information is usually stored in a clients file & what is it used for (Age facility)?

Age facility suggests you're talking about a facility that houses either patients or something along that line. The information stored in the client's file would include everything your organization knows about the client. It could be used for any legal purpose, such as providing services or extending credit.

As to confidentiality, if you are a medical facility, you are subject to very strict regulations limiting the people and organizations to whom client data can be shown.

Any information about and/or from the client could be stored in client files -- that's why they're called client files.

And that info would be used in representing the client -- whether in litigation or transactional matters, or what have you. Basically, anything related to the client -- that's why they're called client files.
