Sure! Our globe would be too hot to live on if it were just one MILLIONTH of a MILLIONTH closer to the sun. And neither could life exist here if we were one millionth of a MILLIONTH farther from our sun! (Coincidently?) we are just right. The angle of its tilt makes our temp perfect, too, where it would wobble too hot or cold for life, otherwise.

Michael G: Australia was populated by aborigines between 40,000 and 70,000 years ago, when there was no such thing as Egyptians.

That said, the boomerang is essentially a bent stick and the idea of using such a tool as a weapon may have originated in India.

Guy above: Did you look at the links? Also, many scholars think Sumeria is the oldest known civilisation, and China and the Indus Valley are also thought to have produced civilisations before Egypt. Anyway, didn't mean to be argumentative, I was just responding to what you actually said. And it was still interesting to me because I didn't realise other civilisations had boomerangs.

Of course, aborigines dating back as long as they do I guess the length of time they have been using them for is a moot point. But the thing is your definition of 'civilisation' - Australia has been populated with aborigines for AT LEAST 40,000 years, and Egypt has been home to a civilisation for AT MOST 8000.

Oh yeah, and some boomerangs are intended to be thrown, others are weapons, both hand held and thrown. The theory is that it was using them as thrown weapon that led to the accidental discovery of their returning.

The boomerang was invented by the Egyptians, thousands of years before Australia was even populated.

Guy below, the Egyptians are the oldest civilisation known to us. Which makes them older than native Australians, I am not naive to think that Australia was was not populated before the convicts were sent.

Also, the boomerang is far more than "a bent stick". It is carved and shaped delicately to return once thrown. A bent stick is thrown and lost.

After seeing water react to different environmental conditions, pollution and music, Mr. Emoto and colleagues decided to see how thoughts and words affected the formation of untreated, distilled, water crystals, using words typed onto paper by a word processor and taped on glass bottles overnight. The same procedure was performed using the names of deceased persons. The waters were then frozen and photographed. check it out!

The Deaths Head Hawk moth one of Britain's largest enters a bee hive by impersonating the queen bee. He emits a squeak exactly the same as the Queen and his yellow and black body fools the drones who bow to let him through to their honey.

My Pop (92 years old) has created his own nasal breathing system. He snags straws from McDonald's (the thicker ones) and wraps medical tape around one end of each 2" segment of the straw so it won't chafe his nose when he inserts them into his nostrils.

It alleviates his nasal valve collapse, keeps him from having to sleep in the recliner, and makes his ear, nose, and throat doctor laugh 'til he cries and has to excuse himself to go to the bathroom.

We call them "Popsuckles." Go fig. I think Pop's amazing, as a matter of fact :)
