I mean what penalties like fines and prison?
I ask because I plan to be a doctor and I am pro choice.

I want to be a Dr when I grow up. I'm wondering what may happen if it is illegal and I do it anyway.

quidproquo, I am not a slut, I would not enjoy performing abortions, and I think I probably would perform them if they were made illegal.

This would be a case to case basis, depending on where you are when the crime was committed. I am not truly an attorney who knows it all as per the penalties & stuff....?
This issue just touched a soft spot in my heart. I was brought up knowing that doctors save lives by their careful and diligent ministrations & diagnosis. Some would say that they were used by our God to save lives.
That someday: The same doctors, will now be performing an unlawful act contrary to what they swore upon (after going through the rigid trainings, passing the tough board exams, et al); is totally unthinkable as far as i am concerned.
It only goes to show the reality of the deteriorating family values & most importantly, morals that are fast diminishing.
I pray that when you do make it in the world of medicine, the issue would never come up because you will be a responsible Christian and a good doctor as God made them.

HOPEFULLY they will continue to perform the abortions in a safe and hygenic method......ALBEIT illegally ...
Because IF they don't ....... the butchers will return and women will die and be made infertile ( please no NUTCASE prolife person come out and say that they would deserve it.. N.B .. also please know that I don't think ALL PRO-LIFE people are nutcases).. and Abortions WILL continue anyway.
EDIT : hey quidproquo you Neanderthall ... How dare you blame women for this.. It takes two to tango, a man COULD have a vasectomy, a man COULD stop being a sl.ut too ( funny how a woman who has sex is deemed a slut Yet I bet you would pat a guy on the back for *getting some*.. Or a man could wear a condom or a man could keep his salami in his underpants.
Grow Up Peanut brain!

It's really unclear at this point, though I'm sure it wont be pleasant and will deffinately involve jail time.
You are right to be afraid to perform abortions. Killing childern is a shameful act. If the law turned against you, your sin would be exposed. You know that you are guilty of murder, and thus defy the Lord's commandments. In addition, the Bible say that the wages of sin is death.
You and I both know that you deserve your punishment. You deserve to die and spend eternity in hell. However, I am worthy of the same fate. I have sinned, I deserve death just as you do. However, Jesus says that he who repents and comes to him will be saved, and place will be prepared for him in his Father's house.
You have a choice. Either you can die and spend the rest of your life in hell, or you can be resurected and spend eternity in a replenished Earth, free from the curse of sin. God is offering you freedom from what you have done.

The doctors will be prosecuted and their medical license revoked I would imagine.
I love how somebody always brings up the "back alley coathanger abortion" like anybody gives a damn.
Reproductive self control anyone?
I'm for abortion though, as another means of keeping the irresponsible and stupid from spawning more useless life.

They will just continue killing people after the fact! Isn't it obvious? When they had the two week doctor strike in CA., there were record low numbers of deaths in that time frame! Stay away from doctors and you'll live longer!

They might be aborted.
Lined up against a fence, and shot-real fast and painless.
Just kidding. If I was a doctor, I wouldn't be able to do that, even if I made as much $$$,$$$,$$$ as Michael Vick, and killed dogs.
Maybe, I'll just take out an ad, how smart do you have to be to kill anyway? Especially, innocent, helpless beings?
The mothers will probably end up having an unwanted pregnancy again anyway, why would it be any different to kill them, the second time, third.......kill 'em all!!!!!!!!
Hope this helps, happy killing.

too bad girls don't learn to stop being sluts.
the doctors that perform them won't have to pay any fines after it gets (if it is) made illegal. they would only get prosecuted it they continued to do it. and since the basis of the pro-life, anti abortion movement is that it's murder, doctors that continue to do it would probably be charged with 3rd degree murder (the worst kind -- open to death penalty in many cases). (as might the women who have them and the amateurs or doctors who perform them)
if you plan to be a doctor, dont worry. you can kill as many babies as you want right now. maybe you'll even rush to get your count as high as you can before it's made illegal.

Who knows, but imagine what will happen to those women. They will be performed illegally in some dirty place in an alley with a coat hanger or something. Quite a scary thought!

Other people go to prison for murder, why should a doctor be given any special exceptions.
