First, do you have dial-up or broadband / DSL?

When asking questions like this please supply more information, Like computer type, which operating system, what kinda of internet access do you have, do you have any routers/hubs?
If you just have a computer and a cable/DSL modem, just search in the help on your computer for detailed directions on what to do. Basically, you just run the network setup wizard, but that is going to require you to know some specifics about your internet account. Username, password, connection type (PPoE, etc...)
