2 grand slams in one inning by Fernando Tatis.

But seriously, Cy Youngs win total will never be approached because baseball is played so differently. Same with most wins in a season (I think it is over 40).

Highest batting average in a season (I think it is around .426) won't be touched. I don't think anyone will get Cal's record for consecutive games, either, because nobody will be allowed to get a huge consecutive streak going - it is too disruptive to a manager's decisions.

Ricky Henderson's career stolen base record will never be approached either. It's just insane to break a long-standing career record by over 50% like he did.

I also don't think that Ryan's career strikeout record or most career no-hitters will be broken.

the cy young record of 511 career wins will never be broken. the closest is roger clemens and he would have to play for another like 5-6 years of at least 20+ wins in each other seasons. and with the new generation of pitchers not winning consistently 20+ games, and for every 5 days instead of the 4 day rotation during cy young's days, 511 will never be broken.

Inside the Park Homers
Career Shutouts
Career Wins for a pitcher
Career Strikeouts for a pitcher
There are several more this is just a start. Batting .400 in a season may be a lost cause too with the modern game involving so much specialization of pitching to hitters, pitching charts, further analysis of stats, etc...

1. Most consecutive batters reaching base safely, an astounding 19, by the Dodgers in 1952.
2. Most hits let up in a 9-inning game, 36 by J. Wadsworth in 1894.
3. Most HR allowed by a winning pitcher, 6 by two guys in the 30s. This could be breakable, but it is crazy to think that it could happen.
4. Fewest Double Plays hit into (in a season!! someone pointed out that I forgot this rather obvious qualifier): 0 by future (hopefully) Hall of Famer Craig Biggio. Can someone hit into negative double plays to break it??
5. Most doubles in a game, 23 (!) by the Cards and Cubs in 1931.
6. Most inning pitched in one game, in one of the most famous games at least to baseball historians: Leon Cadore and Joe Oeschger, 26. Even fatigue couldn't stop them, the game was halted by rain.
7. Most hits allowed by one pitcher in any game: 29 by Eddie Rommel in 1932 (see a pattern here?)
8. Most runs let up by a pitcher in one game: 24 by Aloysius Travers for Ty Cobb's Tigers. That game has some special circumstances though. Travers pitched for the tigers even though he was just a fraternity kid; the Tigers all walked out because of a Ty Cobb suspension in one of his more noisome events of his career when he trampled a wheelchair bound fan almost to death.
9. Most Doubleheaders in a season, 44 by the White Sox. Maybe the old timers have a point about today's players being sissies.
10. Most Complete Games in a career: Cy Young of course with 751. This is more impressive to me than the 511.

Cal Ripken's 2,632 consecutive games played streak.
Before Tejada got hurt, he had the longest current streak, and that was only 1,152 games-not even half. The current leader, Juan Pierre has 376. That means he would have to play every game for the next 14 seasons before he broke the record. That would get him well into his 40's. NOT GONNA HAPPEN!!!

I say the Cubs' 99 year WS drought. That seems really hard.

But if you mean a statistical record, I say Cal Ripken's consecutive games streak. I think DiMaggio's hit streak will eventually be broken.

Edit:
Now that I know about Cy Young's streak, I say that. Over 700 complete games-wow.

With all the specialization in pitching, I don't see ANY pitching records being broken. And I don't see pitchers getting 300 wins after this year.

Johnny Vander Meer back to back no hittters- to pass it you would have to have 3 in a row

Ripken'a games and Youngs wins also

Some of you have said Fernando Tatis' 2 grand slams in an inning. Now that's a great, but dont for get the same pitcher (Nomo?) gave them both up.

Cy Youngs numbers, wins or complete games. Or more likely Joe Dimaggios hit streak.
