I've seen this coming for a while. My wedding is in about a week. My Mom's been acting crazy, I suspect that she's not going to come to the wedding and because she'll be staying home, I suspect my grandparents and brother to follow suite....How can I mentally prepare myself for this impending blow?

It isn't that they don't like my choices, it's that they're mad at me for not letting them have total control over my life....

My mom LOVES my fiance. She just doesn't love me so much right now.

Take the focus off of THEM & put it where it should be - on you & your new husband. This day is not about them. It's about the new life you are establishing with your husband. If they want to act like children & miss the wedding it's their loss. They will be the ones to regret it years down the road. Don't waste one more second of mental or emotional energy on these obviously self-centered & cruel people. If they come around, good for them. If not, good riddance.

Congrats - I hope first of all that ev'ry thing is planned. To mentally prepare yourself is to do nothin and let nature take its course. When it comes to worrying I only worry the night before because if I worry the whole stretch I am not really living and causing myself to have grey hair. So don't do it. Also talk to a close relative to calm your nerves.

Decide right now that you will deal with it like an adult. Buck up, and suck it up. Sometimes you just have to. You have my sympathy, and I wish you could have my mother too. She tore the lace off my wedding dress "to save" before I got completely down the aisle on my way out...

Well first of all u didnt say why ur mom isnt coming, maybe she dont like ur future husband and i've learned from experience LISTEN TO YOUR PARENTS because THEY DO KNOW BEST. But, if u still choose to get married then just put it in ur mind that nothing is going to ruin "your" day and have fun!

Remember that if no one else is there this wedding is for the two of you.

Some people get married with just 2 witnesses.....it doesn't make the marriage less real.

Do what makes you happy and....Congrats!!!!

It is most unusual & totaly unaxceptable for the people closest to you -Mum, brother, grandparents not present at your very special day.

why don't you openly speak with your Mum.

accept the fact they won't be there. i didn't have any of my family at my wedding. except for my sister, i did not want them there. they are a bunch of drunks and pill poppers.
this is your day, not theirs, don't let them ruin it
