I don't mind police sirens. But it's the ambulances that are out of control.

how naive of you all to think that ambulance missions are so virtuous. For example, I worked at a care facility. We would arrange a day in advance for an ambulance to pick up a client and take him/her to the hospital for care, say at 3pm. Despite the fact that it wasn't critical, and the appt was made a day in advance, you could still hear the ambulance coming miles away wailing its siren, clogging up traffic on its way to the
care facility. It's all about them feeling like big shots. I also saw an ambulance team leave their apartment complex, hit the sirens, drive through red lights, inconvenience drivers, only to go to a mcdonalds, and then back to their apartment complex, where one presumes there was a game on TV.
Ambulances have been given free reign over the streets, and nobody seems to mind. I personally flip ambulances off every chance I get because I know they're essentially getting off on their sirens. I would be ok with a european type siren. Much less thrills.

Man I hear ya...all of them. If theres NO ONE on the road...what are the sirens for? To keep them awake?

Gary E...you paid no attention to the gist of the question nor did you use common sense - Chances are, at 2:30am most days the roads are free of traffic and there is NO reason to use a siren of any kind except to alert other motorists to move aside. If no one is in the way, why wail!?

I'll tell you what we can do for you. If you were in my jurisdiction, I would make a note about you and your residence and pass along to everyone who might make an emergency run to your home. Then, if we should ever get a call at 2:30 in the morning to your home, we will ensure that we quietly start up, quietly as possible raise that squeaky old bay door, drive very carefully, obeying the speed limit to the very tick...even if it's 20 miles per hour, come to a complete stop at each and every stop sign, wait at every red light while it dutifully holds back no one coming the opposite way on the empty streets, and hen come strolling up your street, not wanting those pesky old 300 HP diesel engines to disturb your neighbors (after all, isn't that the NEXT thing they would want to complain about?)

And you get all your neighbors and friends to agree to all that and we'll take those noisy old sirens and pesky old flashing lights off. Then as you or your spouse or child lay gasping for air and turning blue on your bathroom floor while your spouse or child screams helplessly "PLEASE DON'T DIE!" be assured we are getting there just as quietly as possible!!!

Either move or get ear plugs. Those sirens have to be there. They prevent accidents while enroute to the hospital with a patient that needs immediate care. You sound like a selfish person. Everytime I hear a siren I say a prayer for the one recieving the care they give. I think of the one who may be hurt or dying and pray they will be fine not about my ears. Move to the country or buy a set of ear plugs.

I have been in Angels Stadium, Dodger Stadium, Yankee Stadium, Petco Park and whatever the name is of that sauna in Miami in Red Sox gear. Everyone treats you with respect/ignores you, except the Yankee fans. There is just too much history there. It makes it fun. As for your experience, I could never understand why a Yankee fan would show up at Fenway for a Red Sox--Tigers game in Yankee gear. Wear Tiger gear for Heaven's sake. Of course you are going to be the most loathed person in the park. Actually wearing a Yankee hat in the City of Boston is not the brightest of moves as a general matter.

It should be regulated. Abusers of wailing sirens should be punished. Some are just happy to wail their sirens without thinking to destroy or disrupt the peace and tranquility of the night.

Not a thing should be done about it, they are trying to quickly get someone to the hospital to save their life's. Just be glad you are safe and sound in bed and not requiring an ambulance.

nothing, those sirens are absolutly key, they alert all traffic that they ambulence is incoming, if they didn't have it, it would take longer for it to reach its destination...and the results could be fatal
