trim the trees around it or above it either way u need more air flow also check for a vent in the roof (very important) as for the mold thats existing use a wire leaf rake and lightly rake it then spay it with round up u can get it a depot or landscape supplie ect.then if u can remember and u have a hose hany or nearby squirt it down in about 3 or 4 days later hope i helped [ur freindly contractor rk]

Depending on how large the area is I have used a stiff brush with a mixture of bleach and water. The bleach will retard the moss growth

use that Moss-Out for Roofs product. works great. kills the bacteria that cause the moss in the first place.

Power washing removed mildew from my metal awnings on the east (shady) side of the house, but I've got patches of moss growing on the east side porch, now. I've tried bleach, and it doesn't help. Guess I'll have to have it power washed again.

Power washering, and scrubbing with a stiff brush will reduce the life of the roof surface.

Sapiumsebiferum22's and renpen's suggestions are the best; your choice.

Sprinkle cheap powdered laundry detergent on it. Than lightly sprinkle with water. It will kill and loosen the moss so that it can be swept off.

I use chlorine bleach in a hose end sprayer. The bleach is so dilute it does no harm but kills the mildew and algae.

same here.
we use a power washer while standing on the roof spraying down.
we have to do this once/year.
