Notebook computer/Wireless PC card compatibility?

I have an Dell Inspiron 1100 that I bought about 3 or 4 years ago. I want to be able to access WI-FI on it. Why type or brand of wireless pc card do I buy that would be compatible with this older model?

Your laptop notebook does not have a Wi-Fi chip built it. You will need to purchase one of the two options.

1) Wireless N (802.11n) Notebook adaptor that fits into your laptop PC Card slot on the side of your notebook computer. I recommend buying the brand linksys or netgear.

or

2) If you have USB ports you can purchase a wireless G (802.11g) adaptor for your notebook computer. I recommend buying the brand linksys or netgear.

Of the two choices, the better hardware would be Wireless N (802.11n) Notebook adaptor that fits into your laptop PC Card slot on the side of your notebook computer. This is much better then the USB adaptor Wireless G.

You can purchase any of these items at Best Buy or at any electronic retailer store.

Go to Dells support web site/support /upgrades and run system anylizer They will tell you the models you can update to Belkin makes them Then go to Tiger Direct.com and look up wireless adaptersYoull find belkins wireless WIFI F5d8013-pcmcia card says 300mbs per second@ $50.00 Dells price is around $100.for a slowwer model 54mbs-100-mbs They both fit and are backward compatable
