This country severely needs to get back into better physical shape. Kids anymore sit inside on the computer or texting each other while playing video games and watching TV while consuming too much corn syrup (soda, etc.) The kids of course aren't the primary cause of it, parents as well spend all of their free time wasting away indoors setting horrible examples of how to live to their kids. Higher percentages of type 2 diabetes and asthma is the result of this. Good to hear that you're at least involved with a positive recreational activity such as the scouts^^
As far as an activity you might try... Maybe have like a mock Easter-egg hunt with boxes of girl scout cookies hidden around the neighborhood. Perhaps that will get the less motivated kids outside for once at least even though it is to eat cookies ^.~

Hello icegurl356:
Congratulations on starting your Gold Award. This is a great thing to do. I do not have any experience with counseling the Gold Award candidate, but have counseled Eagle Scout candidates. Using this board is a good start for some ideas, but the best thing would be to look in your community. Take a look around your area and try to identify some situations that could be improved. Are the street signs deteriorating? Is there a lot of graffiti on the walls? Do the children have nowhere to go? Does your mayor, school principal, park ranger, or other leader have some projects that need to be done but funds/personnel are not available? Do you have any "I wish..." thoughts?
This looks like a good site for some research: http://www.girlscoutstotem.org/Young_Adults/GoldAward.htm
This site has past projects: http://www.cvgirlscouts.org/girls/gold_award/past_projects.htm
Best of luck!
Keep on Scoutin'

I'd say the most important thing most of us seem to be lacking is morals. I doubt that would help you, so how about a town clean-up project? A lot of towns need a little help picking up litter and painting fences and buildings. Maybe you can have them help smaller children learn to read and write a little better. Better yet, let them teach smaller children what they've learned in the girl scouts. That way, it gives them a chance to be role models and leaders.

Personally, I think society needs a high colonic and then a 10 mile hike, in full pack.
But a hug would be nice, too.
You can start with me! ;)

Empathy, respect for others and compassion. (And a little less self interest as well.)
